NENCAP VISTA OPPORTUNITY   --- Posted: 09/19/2014

National and Community Service AmeriCorps VISTA members are passionate and committed to their mission to bring individuals and communities out of poverty. Members make a year- long, full-time commitment to serve on specific projects at a nonprofit organization. They focus their efforts to build the organizational, administrative, and financial capacity of organizations that fight illiteracy, improve health services, foster economic development, and otherwise assist low-income communities. AmeriCorps VISTA is open to all U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent resident aliens age 18 and older. Members receive a modest living allowance. Members who serve for a year also receive health coverage, childcare, if needed, and other benefits. After successful completion of a term of service, members can choose to receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award or post-service stipend.

Qualifications: Veterans strongly encouraged to apply, computer/technology skills, leadership, self motivation, knowledge of marketing and media needed. Start Date: November 4th 2014 and end date is November 7th, 2015. Hours per week: 36 hours are required each week; the majority of the work day will be from 8:00 to 4:30. You cannot hold an additional job while being a VISTA worker. Living Allowance is provided to the VISTA Worker in the amount of $998/ month or $11,136/ year. Living allowance is directly deposited in bank account every two weeks. Health Insurance, relocation allowance, professional development training and childcare assistance is provided, if eligible. In addition, VISTA members who successfully complete a term of service are also eligible to receive either a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $5,550 to pay for college or to pay off student loans, or an end-of-service cash stipend of $1,500.

Other: VISTA Members will conduct the following projects: Research and establish financial literacy case management procedures, forms and resources. Coordinate volunteers that may provide financial literacy education. Create a Family Services Policy and Procedure Manual Coordinate fundraising projects in local continuums of care that promote awareness of Veteran/Civilian homelessness in northeast Nebraska. Research and establish new funding streams for career development assistance. Research and establish career development case management forms, procedures and resource directories. Conduct outreach using various media channels and social media outlets for Family Services and all NENCAP programs Build a volunteer base that would help the agency maintain its food pantries, provide outreach and assist the Family Services staff to provide follow up with clients.

Responsible to facilitate health education and case management to home visitation clients, coordination of services, program education modules, client advocacy and referral. This will include high risk women and families who are pregnant or parenting to decrease the incidence of child abuse and neglect. Initiate and maintain regular contact with families, primarily in their homes. Establish trusting relationships with families. Provide prenatal and other health education. Assist to strengthen parent-child relationships. Assist parents to improve their skills and optimize the home environment for the child’s well being and safety. Maintain relations with community agencies and organizations and provide outreach..

Qualifications: Prefer a Bachelor’s Degree in parent education, family support, human services counseling and knowledge of infant and child development or similar.
Good organization skills.
Prefer experience with outreach, case management, and/or public health education.
Experience in human services, home visits, or skills in early childhood development or early childhood mental health.
Basic computer skills in word processing, email and internet.
Bilingual skills a plus.
Must meet Agency auto insurance standards.

FAMILY SERVICES AIDE for FREMONT   --- Posted: 09/15/2014

This position will be responsible for intake of economically disadvantaged persons and/or families in Dodge and Washington Counties. Will be responsible as front line customer service representative to greet and answer customers as they walk in, answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, take messages, refer clients to appropriate venue. Responsible for taking applications and verifications of income for program eligibility. Complete Application intake on NHAP clients, utilizing Service Point. Maintain complete and accurate records of all clients’ files and contacts. Maintain confidentiality of all participant information. Will assist Case Manager with preparing all reports to FS Director or Program Manager, including mileage logs, time sheets, telephone/daily logs, monthly reports and other reports deemed necessary meeting all deadlines.

WIC/Immunization RN/Immunization Coordinator    --- Posted: 09/15/2014

This position is responsible for aiding in the operation of the WIC and Immunization Programs. Receive Department of Health Immunization Training and WIC State Training. Travel to assigned WIC and/or Immunization clinics. Order and monitor vaccine for both Norfolk and Pender offices. Responsible for proper storage and handling of vaccines received from HHS. Set up, screen and administer vaccine at immunization clinics as well as computer system set up and operation. Administration of adult vaccine and record keeping as needed. Certify WIC participants according to program guidelines. Complete hemoglobin checks as needed. Complete growth grid on participants. Give breastfeeding information and support new moms. Maintain confidentiality of all client information.

Qualifications: Registered Nurse credentials from an accredited school. Nebraska RN License in good standing. Six months to one year related experience. Basic computer skills in word processing, email and internet. Must be able to comply with the Agency’s auto insurance standards.

PART TIME CENTER AIDE for the Norfolk Head Start Center   --- Posted: 08/25/2014

Northeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership’s HEAD START EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROGRAM is looking for a PART TIME CENTER AIDE for the Norfolk Head Start Center. 20 hours per week with seasonal layoff. Work hours are M-Th 11:30 to 4:30 with additional training hours on Friday as needed. Hourly wage. Bilingual skills a plus. The Part Time Center Aide assists the Teacher in planning and carrying out the educational activities of the center. Record observations of children. Facilitate a small group of children in educational activities. Eat breakfast, lunch and/or snack with the children to encourage good eating habits and positive mealtime experiences. Perform cleaning duties as required by the center. Participate in weekly team meetings. Maintain confidentiality for children, families, program and agency. Frequent kneeling, stooping, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds. Bilingual staff must be able to appropriately translate and interpret verbal and written communication.
