The establishment of the Commodity Supplemental Food Program was prompted by the studies which indicated that women who suffer from malnutrition during pregnancy risk permanent damage to their unborn children.

Northeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership Food Pantries are managed by Family Services Coordinators. The food pantries are open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and staffed by one full time person. The Heartland Food Bank and Siouxland Food Bank, local grocery stores, and community food drives are the main sources of where the food pantries get their food. Food is given out on an emergency basis only.
An emergency service offered to those in need of an immediate source of nourishment.
Eligibility & Application:
Clients can only access the food pantry three times in one year; after that they will receive one-on-one budgeting assistance in order to receive anymore food pantries in a 12 month period. Appointments are preferred however no one will be turned away when an eminent need for nutrition is present. A seven day supply of food is provided to those waiting to get on food stamps. Clients that access the food pantry are also assessed to see if they qualify for other programs managed by
Northeast Nebraska Community Action Partnership or other community programs.
